Let Me Introduce Myself

Kim Callahan, LCSW

Hello, my name is Kim Callahan (she/her/hers) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I am so glad you are here!  I have built my private practice to increase my reach in offering a safe and non-judgmental space where I could provide support and guidance to help others find their center.

I work from a person-centered approach to assist my client in finding their desire to break down the challenges that need to be addressed and to empower each and every person to find their courage to believe in their worth and, their strength. This means our work together will be conversation based.

There are techniques and approaches that won’t feel like you are being put under a microscope, but hopefully validated and heard. My goal is to help others think outside the typical, to be creative and see things and obstacles from a different perspective. I believe in the awesome power of mindfulness and how to break down that word to its simplest form: learning to be still. I have seen the magnificent change in a person when the lightbulb goes off and all things come together. The details that stack against us, what we believe and how we feel about ourselves can create such dissonance.

I work with late adolescents, young adults and, adults. I have always had a desire to sit with people, know their struggle, and offer support whether you are a young or seasoned human being. This approach creates what my practice is based upon - to listen and provide insight.

I also believe that earning your trust throughout this process strengthens our dynamic and creates a working relationship that promotes healing. It is vital to the process of therapy that you feel heard and validated when sitting with me. This technique encapsulates a way to address the whole self while also healing the past.

Life experience has garnered my intuition that I blend with clinical knowledge creating a therapy session that is one-of-a-kind for each person I meet. I believe working with people at times is similar to putting puzzle pieces together.

There is a bigger picture that is sometimes missed, and I am astute at pulling out those details that allow for connections and healing to occur. There is a blend of the past and present story that once healed leads to a brighter future.

My expertise comes from varied experiences working with diverse populations and finding ways to triumph over life transitions (such as relocation, career or family changes, separation or divorce), depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, self-esteem, self-worth, and grief to name a few.

My skills come from being a trauma-informed therapist. In furthering my education in the field of trauma I believe I’m on the cutting edge of being able to work with varied challenges that people present.

I also take a person-centered approach. This means our work together will be conversation based. There are techniques and approaches that won’t feel like you are being put under a microscope, but hopefully validated and heard. I believe in the awesome power of mindfulness and how to break down that word to its simplest form: learning to be still. The resolution is in knowing you are capable, able to feel better and emerge from the hardships but not let it define you! Your ability to put life back together in a healthy and whole way will define you, and I will be there to guide you in achieve the desired results.

I will be honored to work with you, to listen and provide insight while earning your trust throughout the process to strengthen and create a working relationship that promotes healing. It is vital that you feel heard and validated when sitting with me. This technique encapsulates a way to address the whole self while also healing the past.
